Xanthoula Dakovanou

Xanthoula Dakovanou is a psychiatrist, music therapist and musician-composer. She has studied Medicine in the NKUA University of Athens and specialized in Psychiatry in Paris and in Athens. She hold’s a Master’s degree in Music Therapy and a PhD thesis in ‘Music and Psychoanalysis’ (Université Paris Sorbonne Cité). She has worked as a psychiatrist and music therapist in Greece and in France, currently collaborating with ‘Thalpos’ NGO in Athens. She is a visiting lecturer at the NKUA University of Athens and at the Paris Sorbonne Cité University. She is also the author of numerous scientific articles about voice and music therapy as well as the creator of the clinical protocol ‘Analytical musicodrama’.

Her musical compositions are inspired by by greek traditions. She has released until today 4 albums in Paris and in Athens, which have received excellent critics from international press (Le Monde, Télérama, Songlines, etc.). Her works have been presented in France (Avignon Festival, Théâtre du Châtelet, Suds à Arles etc.), Greece (Athens Epidaurus Festival, All of Greece one Culture etc.) and 10 more European and Asiatic countries. She has received up to date 4 times the Auscpices of the greek Ministry of Culture for her musical works. She holds a degree in Byzantine music.
