Vasilis Stenos

Vasilis Stenos is the Founder and CEO of Solmeyea, a biotech scale-up that transforms CO₂ into carbon-negative proteins and sustainable materials. With a background in Environmental Engineering from Columbia University (NYC), he brings together deep technical understanding and entrepreneurial vision to address some of the most pressing global challenges at the intersection of climate change, food security, and sustainability.

Under his leadership, Solmeyea has developed IP-protected technologies to decarbonise the way food, fuels, and biomaterials are produced. The company is advancing partnerships with global FMCG manufacturers and heavy CO₂-emitting industries, while preparing to scale its first-of-a-kind CCU flagship biomanufacturing facility in Greece.

Beyond technology development, Vasilis is engaged at the EU policy level, advocating for the recognition of CCU-to-food pathways in the EU Taxonomy and ETS frameworks. He has represented Solmeyea in high-level discussions with the European Commission, the European Investment Bank, and industry leaders, promoting the integration of nature-inspired solutions into Europe’s Green Deal and Fit-for-55 objectives.

Driven by a strong belief in collaborative ecosystems, Vasilis combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, inspiring a new generation of sustainable entrepreneurship in Europe and beyond.
