Elisabeth Vanderpool

Elisabeth Vanderpool is a Senior Strategy Advisor with Medicine for the Greater Good at Johns Hopkins University, where she works on the strategy, partnerships, and sustainable financing needed to advance a broader vision of what healthcare can contribute to the health of people, populations, and communities.

Her work with Medicine for the Greater Good has focused on building the bridge between healthcare and community, including developing strategies for how health systems and ecosystem funders can invest in and partner with communities, demonstrate the value of that work, and create sustainable pathways for scaling. She brings together strategic thinking, financial modeling, relationship building, and a practical understanding of how healthcare organizations and funders make decisions.

Elisabeth is particularly interested in what happens when we expand our definition of health beyond treating illness. She is curious about the role of connection, belonging, creativity, purpose, and community in our experience of health, and about what healthcare might look like if these were treated as meaningful parts of the equation rather than peripheral to it.

Her broader work sits at the intersection of healthcare, community, and systems change, helping organizations turn promising ideas into strategies that can be implemented, financed, and sustained. Based in the Netherlands and working internationally, she is drawn to conversations that challenge existing assumptions and create space for new ways of thinking about healing, health, and what it means for people and communities to thrive.
