Amélie Joannides
Amélie Joannides is a French-Greek artist whose work explores the intersection of art, embodiment, and transformation.
At the age of eight, she entered the Paris Opéra Ballet school and did all her formation there. She was hired at seventeen with the main company.
After more than a decade as a professional dancer with the Paris National Opera Ballet—where she performed both classical masterpieces (Swan Lake, Giselle, Don Quixote) and contemporary works by leading choreographers like Crystal Pite, William Forsythe, and Hofesh Shechter—Amélie has expanded her artistic path to embrace performance as a tool for healing and collective awareness.
Her recent work focuses on the therapeutic power of movement and the body as a gateway to inner change. She facilitates workshops that blend dance, somatic practices, and emotional expression. Amélie was invited to speak and perform at the Global Artivism Conference in South Africa, where she shared her vision of the artist as a change-maker.
She recently performed and led a conversation at the ChangeNOW Summit in Paris, during a segment dedicated to women’s leadership and long-term societal change.
She also made her acting debuts in the series “Etoile” on Amazon Prime, written by the Emmy Awards winner Amy Sherman Palladino.
Amélie is committed to use dance and music as tools for reconnection—with oneself, with others, and with the world. Her artistic work, nourished by her background in elite performance and her deep sensitivity to the body’s wisdom, bridges high-level technique with presence, authenticity, and purpose
