Stelios Krasanakis

Stelios Krasanakis studied medicine at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), theatre at the School of Dramatic Arts under Roula Pateraki, and drama therapy at the English Institute of Dramatherapy and the Hellenic Association of Drama and Play Therapists (EDPE), of which he is a founding member.

He works as a psychiatrist, psychotherapist, drama therapist and director. He is the director of the “THESEAS” rehabilitation centre, run by the Municipality of Kallithea. Founder of the “AION Institute of Drama Therapy”, which has been providing training, research and therapy since 1994. He is in charge of the drama therapy publication series “Roles in Life – Roles in Theatre”.

He was involved in the founding of the European Federation of Drama Therapists (EFD) and serves on its Board of Directors as a representative of the Greek Drama Therapy Associations (EDPE and PEEDP).

His papers and articles have been published in academic journals and books.

He has directed 25 theatre productions.

He is president of the Arts Section of the Hellenic Psychiatric Association, a member of the Hellenic Directors’ Association, the ITACA Association of Addiction Professionals, and the Society for Clinical and Social Research.

He is a co-founder and artistic director of the Naxos Festival.
